I receive support from a number of companies in various ways, be it kit, advice, or discount. For so many people across the “extreme” or adventure sport range it is the be all and end all. All the cool kids get sponsored; they are the pro boaters, they get a sweet deal and live a rock and roll lifestyle. For the (very) lucky few, mainly in stuff like snowboarding, this is exactly how it is. For the rest of us, we get a bit of cheap kit, and have to work hard for the privilege. Personally I love it, I get to put something back into “the industry”, get a bit of cheaper kit here and there, and generally have fun. One rule for any sort of support comes from a guy named Mitch who says….

Free shit is still shit

This stuff however isn’t shit!

Level Six

A super cool Canadian kayak gear company. Still in its toddler’s years, these boys are already producing some world beating cags, and damn cool board shorts amongst other things. I am proud to be on their U.K. Team, and be allowed to post on the team blog! These guys can be found at www.levelsixinc.com

Square Rock have just become Level Six U.K. importers, and I am currently awaiting a Jackson boat or two from them, to see if they suit my style. Check out the blog at www.squarerocknews.blogspot.com

Shiva Outdoors

Dave Fairweather found this lovely company hiding out in Nepal. They make some pretty ace soft shells, waterproofs, and bivibags. Look out for more info on them appearing on t’interweb in the near future.

Everyone has a local shop, this is my local shop, in Weston Super Mare. Rich, the fella who runs it, is a top bloke, and has always managed to help me out since I got into kayaking, and I know I can always go back there and get some up to date info on the custard scene. Cheers Rich!
